Terms of Service

The fine print, in plain English

Terms of Service

No traps, no hidden charges. Here's exactly what you're agreeing to when you practise with us.

Last updated: 31 August 2026

1

The service

CoCap is an English speaking-practice platform available as a website and an Android app: an AI coach (Kaira), a learning zone with a full CEFR curriculum, a vocabulary deck, grammar practice, Speak for a Minute, and CapCoins — the in-app rewards you earn by practising. By using CoCap you agree to these terms.

2

Your account

You sign in with a phone number or an email address — whichever you give us — using a code we send to it, or with a password you set. Keep your account details secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. One account per person; you must be 13 or older, and if you are under 18 you should use CoCap with a parent or guardian's consent.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings, or by writing to us. See our account deletion page for details.

3

A free service

CoCap is currently free for everyone — every feature is available at no cost, with no plans, payments, or cards required. There is nothing to buy and nothing to refund.

The Android app contains no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. If paid features are ever introduced in future, we will update these Terms and clearly show any pricing before you choose to pay. Until then, enjoy the whole app on us.

4

The mobile app

The CoCap Android app is distributed through Google Play, and your use of it is also subject to Google Play's Terms of Service. Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the app or its content.

The app needs an internet connection for coaching and scoring, and asks for microphone access when you use a speaking feature — you can refuse, and the rest of the app still works. It may also ask permission to send you notifications, which you can refuse or switch off later from your phone's settings. We may update the app to fix problems or add features.

5

Conduct rules

Be respectful. No harassment, hate speech, spam, sexual content, impersonation, or sharing other people's personal information. We filter profanity. Repeated violations can mean suspension or permanent removal of your account.

Do not attempt to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, and do not use automated means to farm rewards.

CoCap has no public feed and no messaging between learners, so there is nothing here to report about another user. The one thing another learner can see is your public profile card, and only if you have switched it on. If you believe someone is misusing CoCap, or you want to tell us about something Kaira said, email hello@cocap.in — we act on genuine reports quickly and may remove content or accounts at our discretion.

6

AI-generated content

Kaira is an AI. Her feedback, pronunciation scores, and your English level are algorithmic assessments meant to help you improve — they are not professional certification, and no job or exam outcome is guaranteed.

AI-generated content may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable. Always verify important information yourself, and please tell us about anything that looks wrong — Send feedback, or hello@cocap.in.

Your CoCap level recognises your practice on CoCap and nothing more. It is not an accredited qualification and is not issued by any examination body. CoCap is an independent practice tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or any other exam board.

7

Voice & microphone

When you use a speaking feature, CoCap accesses your device microphone with your permission. Your speech is turned into text either by the recogniser built into your device, or — on most phones, which have none — by sending a short audio clip to a speech-to-text provider for us. Either way we coach you on the text that comes back. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly which clips travel where, and which are kept.

Short voice recordings (from “Speak for a Minute”) are stored privately so you can review your own progress. They are never public, and you can delete any of them at any time. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.

8

Rewards & virtual currency

CapCoins are virtual in-app rewards that recognise your learning activity. They have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for real money, transferred, or refunded.

CoCap may adjust, reset, or discontinue virtual reward balances at any time, and may reverse rewards obtained through error, abuse or automation. Virtual rewards are not property, and they end when your account does.

9

Your content

You own what you write and what you say. You give CoCap a licence to store and use it within the platform so the service can work — letting Kaira coach you on it, scoring it, and building your level from it — and to show your profile card to other learners if you have switched your public profile on. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

That licence exists only to run the service for you. We do not sell your content, show your practice to other learners, or use it to train AI models.

10

Third-party links & services

CoCap links to third-party websites and uses third-party services. These are for your convenience only — we do not endorse, control, or guarantee the accuracy of any third-party content. Your use of those sites and services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

11

Liability

CoCap is provided "as is", without warranty that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the maximum extent allowed by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months (currently zero, as the service is free). Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

12

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as CoCap changes. We will update the date at the top of this page, and for a change that materially affects you we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use CoCap after that means you accept the updated Terms.

13

Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with CoCap or these Terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
